New UK boss for Kuoni

Joanna Edmunds has been appointed managing director of Kuoni UK in place of Nick Hughes.

Hughes is leaving the company with "immediate effect" after two years.

Edmunds moves up from her previous role as commercial director which she has held since March 2008.

She was previously boss of Thomas Cook Signature, Magic Travel Group and development director for Thomson Holidays.

Edmunds assumes her responsibilities on Monday.

The changes come against a backdrop of structural changes across the Kuoni group.

The newly defined role of managing director includes enhanced focus on sales and marketing but excludes responsibilities for production.

"Nick Hughes has been with Kuoni for over two years. He has made a significant impact on the business during this time and has provided strong leadership and strategic focus during a difficult trading period," a company statement said.

"The group executive board would like to express their sincere gratitude to Nick Hughes for his work, dedication and commitment to Kuoni and wishes him well in his future personal and professional endeavours. We also wish Joanna Edmunds success and satisfaction in her future efforts on behalf of Kuoni.
