BA faces legal challenge over cabin crew cuts

 

 
Legal action is being taken out by a union to try to stop British Airways imposing contractual changes on 14,000 cabin crew without agreement.
 
The High Court challenge by Unite is over the imposition of new contracts, including the reduction of crewing levels, which BA is introduce from November 16. 
 
The union is seeking an injunction against this imposition.  The High Court hearing is currently set for Thursday (November 5).
 
The legal move is separate to a ballot for industrial action which Unite announced last week it is intending to carry out which could threaten flights over Christmas.
 
A mass meeting of cabin crew is planned for today (Monday) at Sandown racecourse, where Unite will feedback to members on why negotiations with the airline have stalled. 
 
"Unite continues to seek a negotiated solution and remains willing to begin talks with the company at any time," a statement said.
