Caribbean warms up London

Dragon's Dens graduate Levi Roots was the star of the show at the Caribbean Tourism Organisation’s inaugural Food, Rum and Rhythm festival at Vinopolis in London.

Roots was cooking, singing, signing autographs and selling his now famous sauces.

Levi’s music was supported by Tropical Elements and London rum cocktail ‘Mixologist’ Ian Burrell.

In a sold out Vinopolis, both trade representative and consumers were treated to a variety of food and drink from many Caribbean islands including St Kitts, St Vincent, Bahamas, Cuba and Antigua/Barbuda.

In addition commercial sponsors such as Sandals, Virgin Atlantic and Britsih Airways added to the welcome offered.

The CTO’s Carol Hay was delighted with the results of this the first year of the event.

"We are all so pleased that this has captured people’s interest," she said. "We have such a wide and rich variety of food, drink and of course music inherent within Caribbean culture and the fact that so many people are here today is very encouraging."

Caribbean sport also showed its face as Antiguan cricketing legends Sir Vivian Richards and Richie Richardson also enjoyed the spirit of the occasion.
