Oasis arrives in US

The world’s largest cruise ship has completed a 14-day transatlantic crossing from Finland to arrive at its home port in Fort Lauderdale.

The 5,400-passenger Oasis of the Seas ship will undergo the final touches in preparation for pre-inaugural events.

These start with a private performance by singer Rihanna on Thursday followed by an appearance on US TV’s Good Morning America the following morning.

The official naming ceremony will take place on November 30 during a one night inaugural celebration fundraiser for the non-profit Make-A-Wish Foundation in aid of children with life-threatening medical conditions.

The first cruise by Osais of the Seas is on December 1 for four nights to ship owner Royal Caribbean International’s private island of Labadee in Haiti.
