Italian expansion by Ryanair

Ryanair is to open 13 new routes from Sicily for next summer.

Two new aircraft will be based a Trapani airport enabling the airline to more than double its network to 34 routes from next March.

Services will start to Billund, Bratislava, Cagliari, Eindhoven, Genoa, Gothenburg, Ibiza, Karlsruhe (Baden-Baden), Krakow, Maastricht, Memmingen, Trieste and Valencia.

Frequencies will also go up on existing routes to  Brussels (Charleroi), Frankfurt (Hahn) and Dusseldorf (Weeze) as the airline aims to carry two million passengers a year through the airport.

Routes from Trapani to Bari, Brindisi and Madrid will continue to operate throughout the winter.

The move follows just a day after Ryanair announced a new base near Olso for next summer (sse separate story).
