Snow causes continued travel disruption

 

 

Snow and ice is causing continued pre-Christmas travel chaos with airlines cancelling flights across Europe.

 

Many UK domestic services were either cancelled or delayed yesterday and further disruption is inevitable today (Tuesday).

 

Flybe was forced to pull a series of flights from UK regional airports yesterday and EasyJet is warning of continued disruption.

 

The budget carrier cancelled flights from its Luton base until 11.30 except for Dortmund and Tel Aviv.

 

Gatwick was suffering from "severe disruption" with numerous cancellations, while Stansted flights were being disrupted with some cancellations.

 

Milan Malpensa was expected to be closed until midday, while Rome Fiumincino, Madrid and Paris Charles de Gaulle had severe disruption with numerous cancellations.

 

"As a result of significant snowfall across the UK and parts of Europe, EasyJet, like many airlines, is experiencing continued disruption," the airline said this morning.

 

"The disruption has been exacerbated by the closure of many airports which has had a knock on affect to our services, however over the last five days of severe weather disruption, the airline has been working hard to get its operation back to normal and has operated over 80% of its flights, albeit with some delays."

EasyJet passengers are advised to check the 'Flight Disruption' section on www.easyJet.com to ensure their flight is not cancelled before going to the airport.
