New UK-Germany air link

Stansted is to gain a new German destination as Germanwings sets up a new hub in Hanover.

Two flights a day will run to the low cost airline’s sixth base in Germany, which opens on April 29.

The carrier is to base three aircraft at Hanover-Langenhagen airport serving 15 destinations across Europe.

Germanwings is looking to attract business travellers to the new routes, after releasing statistics showing that more than 41% of passengers are on business.

Spokesman Thomas Winkelmann said: "Our commitment in Hanover strengthens our growth course and will also have a very positive effect on the city and the region, including the creation of new jobs.

"The range of flights which we are offering perfectly reflects the needs of leisure and business travellers in or passing through Lower Saxony."

Germanwings has released 50,000 tickets for the new routes out of Hanover for 19,99 euros including taxes, fees and charges on: www.germanwings.com

  • Attracting VFR to the UK?

Could imagine that even this new service to Stansted out of Hanover will attract members and relatives of the British Army, always open for a fair deal back home.
