First-timers boost Seabourn bookings

First time cruisers are opting to book luxury line Yachts of Seabourn in record numbers.

They are being attracted by special offers such as half price deals and free flights.

The number booking in January surged 79% over the same period in 2009 and 155% over January in 2008, which Seabourn said was its best year to date.

The additional growth of new travel agent partners introducing clients to Seabourn has seen the company see record overall booking volumes in the first month of 2010.

There was a 106% increase compared to the same month in 2009, and a 215% rise compared to January 2008.

President and CEO Pam Conover said: "Travel agents and consumers have responded very favourably to our new yachts, itineraries and value-added promotions.

"As a result, we are attracting higher numbers of both first-time travellers and repeat guests who are eager to travel well and experience Seabourn-style cruising."

The 450-passenger Seabourn Odyssey, introduced last June, is to be joined by two sister ships - Seabourn Sojourn this year and Seabourn Quest in 2011.

Together, the three new vessels represent a capacity increase of more than 200% for the line in a three-year period.

For a limited time, many 2010 Europe voyages are being offered with free business or economy class air fare, depending on category of suite booked, plus savings of up to 50% off of brochure rates for bookings made in February.
