SYDNEY - MSC Cruises has acquired the rights from IMG Media to broadcast the 2010 FIFA World Cup games aboard the eleven vessels of its fleet.
ââ¬ÅâOur guests will be able to experience the thrill of the event and enjoy football fever as if they were in South Africaââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬~ said Pierfrancesco Vago, CEO of MSC Crociere.
The games will be broadcast in the public areas and selected bars. Ships with sports bars will be specially branded for the games.
Dedicated areas will be decorated with football pennants, balloons and paper decorations with the teamsââ¬â¢ colours.
Special cocktails for each nation will be served at the bars, such as the English favourite, Pimmââ¬â¢s and ginger ale, or the Italian cocktail comprising of Campari, Martini rosso and soda water.
Hamburgers, hot dogs, crisps and beers will be available at the restaurants to create a typical stadium atmosphere.
On board shopping galleries will stock a variety of themed items including the Havaianas flip-flops, bearing the colours of the different participating countries.
The 2010 FIFA World Cup will be staged from June11-July 11. The final will be played in Johannesburg.
