TrekAmerica has launched an online community platform which it claims will change the way online social media is used in the travel industry.
Once they have booked, trekkers will be given their own personal URL linked to a profile page
It will be pre-loaded with their details and an interactive map of the tour they have booked.
Travellers will be able to invite friends and family to login to their profile and keep track of their journey.
They can upload photos and videos, write travel blogs, post comments to Facebook and send tweets whilst on their TrekAmerica road trip.
Customers will be incentivised to post content on to their site with Trek Points, redeemable for discounts on future trips.
The specialist said with a 99% satisfaction rating, it is happy for past passengers to act as ambassadors for the brand.
