Goldtrail administrators to 'consider their position' over agent refunds

The administrators for Goldtrail have agreed to "consider their position" with regards to agents who refunded clients following their initial advice.

ABTA met with Begbies Traynor yesterday afternoon to discuss inconsistencies in the advice it has given agents.

The administrators originally told agents, through its website, to refund any money they held for untaken Goldtrail holidays back to the relevant customers.

Now Begbies Traynor says agents should pay the money to Goldtrail Travel Limited, in administration, and that customers must claim back money through the ATOL scheme.

An ABTA spokesman said at the meeting the administrators "had agreed with the advice we issued to members yesterday on the current status of refunds and pipeline money and were considering their position concerning agents who refunded clients following their initial advice".
