TripAdvisor’s top ten list of the wackiest summer events in the US include everything from a “Humungus Fungus” Festival in Michigan to a national hollering festival in Spivey’s Corner, NC.
For those who want more:
---There’s the Gilroy Garlic Festival in (where else?) Gilroy, Calif., where food vendors include garlic ice cream; and the Barnesville Potato Days in Minnesota, where events include mashed potato wrestling.
---Prairie de Sac in Wisconsin features the Cow Chip Throw which each year attracts 40,000 people, some of whom are attempting to break the 248-foot-long record for throwing; the “Baby Food Festival” in Fremont, Mich., which is already home to the largest baby food factories in the US.
---Then, there’s the Heritage Duct Tape Festival in Avon, Ohio. Naturally enough, this is the “Duct Tape Capital of the World” featuring dozens of displays made from this common household product.
