Rail Europe has appointed Vincent Dedecker as managing director.
Dedecker takes over the from acting MD Michel Ponssot who retires to his native France after two terms at the helm of Rail Europe, from 1983 to 1989 and from 2002 to the present day.
Dedecker joins Rail Europe from parent company SNCF (French National Railways, where he was most recently head of market research and timetabling.
Dedecker, who will be relocating to Kent with his wife and three children, said: "The developments in rail travel throughout Europe in 2007 make this an exciting time to join Rail Europe.
"With the growing emphasis on greener ways to travel, I am keen to help the company enforce its position as the UK"s leading supplier of European train tickets."
