Freedom grows sales by 50%

Freedom Independent Travel Agents Consortium has reported a 57% increase in passenger numbers for 2006.

The independent agency chain said its passenger volumes rose from 83,582 to 131,424 in the 12 months to the end of January 2007.

Cruise sales were particularly strong with a 54% increase in bookings year-on-year.

The consortium’s top five best selling sectors for the period were cruise, Las Vegas, Florida, weddings and honeymoons and Dubai.

Overall sales also showed a healthy increase with a 50% growth compared to 2005.

General manager Trevor Davis said: --We are delighted to be announcing such strong figures and to see the continued growth in cruise and long-haul destinations.

--I’m confident our members will continue to turn in strong results as we steer more towards specialist products.”
