Yorkshire agent signs up to new Advantage scheme

Yorkshire-based travel agent Destination has become the first Advantage member to sign up to its newly launched Advantage Managed Services.

The agency, based near Keighley in West Yorkshire, will offload its administration and back office functions so it can focus on the sales and marketing of its business.

Advantage said a further two agencies will be joining the scheme over the next few weeks.

Chief executive John McEwan said of the service: -¬---It offers a great low-cost option to start a travel business or an ideal opportunity to cut costs and focus on what independent agents do best - selling the right holiday to each individual customer.-¬~

  • Personal service is what independents do best

It might well be a perfect way to cut out costs, but it also cuts out the personalised and individual customer contact. We communicate with every customer on 6 occasions prior to departure (late bookings obviously excepted), once when they are in resort, immediately on their return to welcome them home and then once again 3 months after they've been home. Every single communication is personalised and individual and is one of the main reasons we have very high repeat business and recommendations. I would hate to farm this out to a faceless head office and have no control over what they say, how they say it and when they send it.
