Top UK travel agencies named


Travellers World and The Co-operative Travel have been voted the UK’s top travel agencies in the British Travel Awards.
They came top in the small travel retailer of the year and large travel retailer of the year categories in the awards announced in London last night.
Travellers World topped Prestbury Travel which was in second place and joint third placed outlets Haslemere Travel and Stockton Heath Travel. Also nominated in the category were Althams Travel, Baldwins Travel, Dawson and Sanderson, Gates Travel and STA Travel.
The Co-operative Travel beat Thomas Cook which took second place as largest travel retailer of the year. Also nominated were Advantage Travel Centres, First Choice, Flight Centre, Global Travel Group, Hays Travel and Thomson.
Thomson was voted large tour operator of the year and Tucan Travel took the small operator title.
Royal Caribbean took the title of supplier sales team of the year and also beat P&O Cruises to become beat mainstream cruise line.
Cunard Line was cruise line of the year, Princess Cruises best luxury line and Disney Cruise Line best niche cruise line.
P&O Ferries was ferry company of the year and cross channel operator of the year.
American Airlines took the title of airline of the year with Avis Europe car hire company of the year.
In the sustainability section, Thomson Airways was chosen as most environmentally and socially responsible airline, Flybe was selected as the budget carrier, First Choice as large operator and Tribes Travel as small operator.
