Avis expands leisure network

Avis Rent a Car has embarked on a major expansion drive in the UK with the opening of 37 new locations for leisure customers in the the two months.

It plans to open another 100 leisure branches in 2011, partly through partnership.

Of the 37 new branches, 21 have launched in partnership with Regus, a provider of workplace solutions.

A further 16 locations have opened in partnership with local hotels.

Avis UK commercial director Anthony Ainsworth said the new branches -¬---put us another step closer to reaching our ultimate goal of having an Avis branch within a few miles of every household in the UK-¬~.

Meanwhile, Avis has expanded its business travel team with the appointment of Paul Clark as account manager.

It said the growth comes as a response to a strong 2010, which saw the specialist team increase its market share to 43%.

Reporting into Lisa Eastwood, head of business travel sales, Clark will be responsible for all the independent travel management companies (TMCs) across the UK.

He spent the last two years working at Avis as an account development executive, responsible for the company-ªs SME corporate customers.
