Tube set for summer season of walk-outs

Commuters and spring and summer travellers to London will face transport chaos after a series of walk-outs were announced by London Underground workers" union the RMT.

Six rounds of strikes will take place through May and June, to be staged in protest at the sacking of two staff members. The sacked men are Northern Line driver Eamon Lynch and Bakerloo Line driver Arwyn Thomas.

This will be the second protest at their sackings - there was a walk-out in January to echo staff unhappiness about the men losing their jobs.

There will be three strikes lasting between nine and 24 hours from May 16 to 20 and a further three from June 13 to June 17.

The exact dates are: 9.01pm, May 16, to 11.59am on May 17; noon on May 18 to 11.59am on May 19; noon to 9pm on May 20; 9.01pm on June 13 to 11.59am on June 14; noon on June 15 to 11.59am on June 16; noon to 9pm on June 17.

  • Tribunal ? why not

Why have the men who have been dismissed not gone to a tribunal and let them decide if it was a fair dismissal. Maybe .as usual , there is more than meets they eye in the reason. This has not been made public so we are all in the dark. If they truly believe they should be reinstated then lets have a review. Just cause chaos and never mind all the innocent customers.
