Expedia has confirmed the appointment of Andy Washington in the newly-created position of managing director for the UK.
It said the new role is the first in a series of new MD positions being introduced for each of its new European sub-regions as part of a restructure of its European operations.
"Creating dedicated teams, focussed on each of the diversified markets of Europe, will ensure Expedia is well placed to address the specific needs of individual travellers in each country," said Gary Morrison, VP Expedia EMEA.
The new MDs will report into Morrison and will all be based at Expedia's European headquarters in London.
"A shared London location will enable the organisation to achieve local focus whilst retaining the agility of a central European team," added Morrison.
Washington"s previous roles include Cosmos sales and distribution director and lastminute.com sales director travel. He left lastminute last year to join Thomas Cooks new OTA division in London.
