A former BBC online editor has joined travel social network gapyear.com as general manager.
The appointment of Tim Fenton, previously managing editor of BBC News Online, follows the departure of gapyear.com founder Tom Griffiths.
Griffiths is stepping down as managing director but continues -¬---in a creative, advisory and promotional capacity-¬~.
Flight Centre, which acquired a majority stake in gapyear.com in October 2010, has now now reached an agreement with Griffiths to purchase his remaining stake.
Thanks to Flight Centre investment, the website is re-launching on a new technical platform
