BA 'bomb threat' steward to appear in court

A British Airways flight steward is due to appear in court later today charged with making a mid-air bomb threat.

Mathew Davis, 22, allegedly scrawled a threatening message on a toilet door that caused the scare on a Tokyo to London flight with 150 passengers onboard.

The message is claimed to have said: "The bomb on board will explode at 16.00 GMT unless our demands are met".

Davis was arrested when the Boeing 777 plane safely touched down at Heathrow.

Police searched the passenger plane but no explosives were found on board.

Davis was charged with communicating a bomb threat and he will appear at Uxbridge Magistrates Court this afternoon.
