Qantas is to provide passengers on the airline's Boeing 767 planes with iPads for their inflight entertainment following a successful trial of new in-air streaming technology.
Passengers in both business and economy classes will be given iPads free of charge to access entertainment programmes.
The iPads will be available towards the end of the year, predominantly on domestic east coast routes and on flights to Perth.
Meanwhile Qantas has been crowned the most on-time major domestic airline for the third year in a row.
Data released by the Federal Government's Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics for June meant Qantas' on-time departure performance for the financial year ending June 30 2012 was 84.4% for 119,636 domestic sectors flown.
Virgin's on-time departure rate was 82.9% while Jetstar lagged behind with 76.4%.
