Hotel guests and thousands of local residents have been evacuated in the latest forest fires in the Costa del Sol.
According to the local news website, typicallyspanish.com, around 4,000 people were evacuated yesterday from the village of Ojen and eight urbanisations in Marbella.
Around 200 guests at the La Cala Resort, a golf hotel in the mountains around 20 minutes from Marbella, were evacuated as fires spread through the area.
The hotel is now re-open and escaped any damage in the fires.
Those evacuated were told to go to the sports centre in La Cala, the sports centre in Las Lagunas or the Mijas Hippodrome.
Fire fighters worked overnight to battle the blaze, which was made worse by strong hot winds.
Two people have been seriously injured with burns.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office confirmed that fires are currently burning in the forests around Barranco Blanco, between Mijas Costa and Coin in the Malaga area of the Costa del Sol.
"Some residents have been evacuated from their homes. Emergency services are at the scene," it said.
"Travellers and residents are advised to follow instructions given by the local authorities."
