For winter adventure in Bloomington head to the Hyland Hills Ski Area. Located within Hyland Lake Park Reserve, Hyland Hills is the place for downhill skiing and snowboarding in the Bloomington area. Hyland Lake Park Reserve is the place to be in the summer. The park is a scenic retreat in the heart of Bloomington. Hyland Lake Park offers breathtaking prairie landscapes and a major body of water as well as a large play area, the Richardson Nature Center, an 18-hole disc golf course and a 3-hole disc golf practice area. The Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge is one of only four urban wildlife refuges in the US. Because of its location along the Mississippi Flyway, the Wildlife Refuge is an excellent location to spot over 200 bird species including the American eagle.
