New travel association launches tomorrow

Two travel industry executives have launched a new travel and tourism association after becoming concerned at the lack of representative bodies.

The association, which launches in Cardiff tomorrow, is designed to give a dedicated platform for Welsh people working in the travel sector.

Welsh In Tourism has been created by Adam Hill, partner at travel advertising agency Designate, and Greg Evans, a travel and tourism consultant.

"There are many associations in the industry targeted at specific groups, like the AWTE for women and the SPAA for the Scots, but there's nothing for the Welsh," said Hill, who was born in Merthyr Tydfil.

As well as discussing key trends and industry issues, the club will also have a strong social focus.

"It seemed like a good excuse to drink more beer, watch more rugby and eat more pies, and, boyo, we need more singing too," said Evans, who isn't actually Welsh but has an office there (and has a Welsh surname).

For more information about the group, email [email protected] or [email protected]

Have they seriously looked at their name? Memorable I suppose, or has this got anything to do with 1 April launch?
