British tourist killed after falling from balcony in Thai guest house

A British tourist has died in the Thai resort of Pattaya City after falling from a guest house balcony.

The 31-year-old man, identified in media reports as Christopher Laidler, fell naked from the balcony of his room on the third floor of the Walking Street Guest House, which is above the Sweetheart Agogo club, in the early hours of Friday morning.

Reports say he was given CPR at the scene but died on his way to hospital.

It is believed Mr Laidler was in the city to take part in the Songkran New Year celebrations, when thousands of revellers come to the city to soak each other with water pistols.

An investigation is underway but local police say there were no signs of a struggle.
