New ski flights to heart of Swiss alps announced



A start-up Swiss airline is planning to launch flights from six UK airports to Sion in the heart of the Swiss alps, dramatically cutting the transfer times to winter sports resorts.

Powdair says it will launch flights from Bristol, Edinburgh, Luton, Manchester, Southampton and Southend from December 14.

From Sion, transfers to the popular ski resorts of Zermatt and Saas Fee take only an hour, while Verbier can be reached in just 45 minutes.

The airline intends to operate a 109-seat Fokker on the routes from the UK.

Tickets are due to go on sale next month.
