Bomb injures 24 in central Bangkok

At least 24 people have been injured in a bomb explosion at a hospital in Bangkok.

The area of the city where the explosion happened is popular with tourists who come to see the nearby Victory Monument.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office issued updated advice warning visitors to the city: "There was an explosion inside Phra Mongkut military training hospital, near the National Monument in Bangkok which caused a number of injuries; you should follow the advice of the local authorities."

Thailand's prime minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has called for people not to panic following the attack, which coincides with the third anniversary of the country's 2014 military coup.

It comes just weeks after more than 50 people were injured in a double explosion at a shopping centre in Pattani, southern Thailand.
