Etihad and Emirates suspend flights to and from Qatar

Etihad Airways and Emirates are to suspend flights to and from Qatar from tomorrow, until further notice.

The announcement was made as the United Arab Emirates cut ties with Qatar, amid an ongoing diplomatic dispute in the region.

The governments of the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Bahrain have said they will suspend air and sea travel to and from Qatar, accusing the country of 'supporting terror'.

Saudi Arabia will shut land crossings with its neighbour, according to the official Saudi Press Agency

AirArabia, Saudi Arabian Airlines and flydubai, have also suspended flights.

Etihad operates four return flights a day between Abu Dhabi and Doha. Emirates operates seven return flights a day between Dubai and Doha and flydubai operates up to six return flights a day between the two cities.

Emirates said the last flight from Dubai-Doha will depart at 2.30am on Tuesday, while the last Doha-Dubai flight will leave at 3.30am.

Etihad said: "From the morning of 6 June 2017, Etihad Airways will suspend all flights to and from Doha until further notice.

"The last flight from Abu Dhabi to Doha will depart as EY399 at 02:45 (local time) on 6 June. The last flight from Doha to Abu Dhabi will depart as EY390 at 04:00 (local time) on 6 June.

"Flights on 5 June will operate as normal."

Etihad and Emirates said customers affected will be offered refunds and free rebooking to nearest alternative destinations.

  • accusing the country of 'supporting terror'.

Assume now that since such (unexpected)national carriers have suspended their flights to Qatar...the rest of the west starting with Europe will do the same...or will they just put on the coloured lens reading glasses...?...waiting....
