Hyatt buys wellness brand

Hyatt Hotels Corp has made a second strategic acquisition into the wellness space this year.

The Chicago hospitality group has announced the acquisition of the Exhale spa and fitness brand.

Exhale currently has a presence in 25 cities in the US and the Caribbean including outlets located in major hotels including Loews Hotels in Atlanta and Miami Beach and The Ritz-Carlton Bal Harbour.

It offers a full suite of spa services, yoga and fitness classes.

"With Hyatt's support, the Exhale brand will be positioned for global expansion in free-standing locations, existing locations, and Hyatt properties where the brand and offering fits. We couldn't be more excited about the next path in the Exhale journey," said Annbeth Eschbach, CEO and founder of Exhale.

Exhale will continue as a standalone brand still operating in freestanding locations, along with new outlets in appropriate Hyatt hotels.

Earlier this year Hyatt purchased wellness resort operator Miraval group in a deal worth $215 million.
