Wightlink salings suspended after ferry fire

Wightlink has suspended its services between Lymington and Yarmouth after a fire broke out in the engine room of the Wight Sky during yesterday evening's sailing.

Emergency services met the ferry when it arrived in Yarmouth around 10pm and one crew member was taken to hospital in Newport. They have since been discharged.

An investigation into the fire is underway and the Marine Accident Investigation Branch has been informed.

Wightlink said that as a result the service would remain suspended until further notice.

Customers are being transferred to Wightlink's Portsmouth to Fishbourne service. Other services are operating normally.
