Barbados named world's top destination for visitor satisfaction

Fresh from announcing record tourism growth in 2017, Barbados is celebrating top spot in the worldwide Destination Satisfaction Index.

Barbados beat second-place Seychelles and Bermuda in third to top spot by notching the highest overall World score of 8.8/10.

The DSI covers 20 categories including beaches, accommodation, cuisine and shopping based on more than 70,000 traveler online surveys.

It also ranked highest in the accommodation category.

Speaking at the award ceremony at ITB Berlin, William Griffith, CEO of the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. said Barbados will leverage the awards' global recognition to further boost tourism growth.

"We're going to be saying we're best in the world, at least for the next 12 months and I think it helps us in our quest to move forward in terms of pressing for success for Barbados tourism."

"What we're really seeing here are different travelers from different countries all over the world giving their feedback on different platforms, and they're all saying the same thing - that accommodations in Barbados are among the best in the world," Griffiths added, noting that Barbados also picked up 13 Travelers' Choice Awards for accommodations in the past year.
