Visit Azores reports rise in visitors from the UK

Visit Azores reports a surge in UK visitor numbers from September to December 2017.

The number of UK tourists increased by 14.6% to 4,528 compared to the same period in 2016.

In October 2017 the islands hosted the ABTA Convention.

Azores has also seen a rise in length of stays with overnight room night by UK visitors up 17.4% to 14,688.

The islands hope the new seasonal Ryanair flights from Manchester to Ponta Delgada, launching June to October 2018, will further boost UK visitor arrivals.

"It is an incredibly exciting time for Azores and the rise in visitor numbers from the UK is testament to our efforts in promoting the destination to this key market," said a spokesman for the tourist board.
