Alitalia ‘could be grounded this week’
Comments: 1

Debt ridden Alitalia may be forced to ground all flights this week unless a financial rescue package is put in place.

Italian aviation authorities have reportedly warned that the airline’s operating licence could be removed within days unless a cost cutting plan emerges.

The boss of the country’s civil aviation authority ENAC Vito Riggio was reported in local media as saying: “If the financial plan doesn’t arrive in three to four days the licence will be suspended.”

His comments came after a bid by investor group CAI fell through on Friday due to opposition by six unions

unions
Any company that is held financially hostage by its unions deserves to die. I only hope that as it is sold off piecemeal that the said unions lose their stranglehold in the process.
