More Ryanair cancellations due to Boeing strike
Comments: 2

Ryanair has had to cancel 25 return flights to and from Birmingham due to strike action at Boeing.

The strikes have delayed the delivery of new aircraft so that the airline is not able to operate flights on 21 routes to and from Birmingham between October 24 and 28.

Passengers who were due to travel on these cancelled services will receive a full refund.

Announcing the cancellations, Ryanair’s, Michael Cawley said: “We sincerely regret the forced cancellation of these 25 return services to/from Birmingham. However, we assure passenger that this is a temporary disruption to our schedule and we have secured an aircraft to operate all scheduled services from 29th October.

“We sincerely apologise to all our passengers for the inconvenience caused by this change to our plans. I hope passengers understand that it is due to circumstances over which we have no control and I hope to see these passengers onboard one of our Birmingham services soon. ”

It's not only Ryanair
Much as I hate to take the side of Ryanair I don't think you can lay the blame for this one at Mr O'Leary's door; nor is his the only airline that has cancelled flights with no alternative. Of course if they had booked through an agent that was offering ATOL protection they would be covered, but we all know that a lot of agents have been selling "packages" that really were not protected either. Some are now realising the error of their ways but until those who flout the rules are brought to book by the CAA and hammered in the courts the public will continue to be duped. At the end of the day there are a lot of people out there who, for very valid reasons, only want flight only; just as there are those who are prepared to take a chance by doing it all themselves to save a few quid. Those who do that are aware of the consequences of their actions most of the time; it's the ones who booked through the not so honest agencies that I have sympathy for.

Will O'leary Help
Now here's a thing O'Leary hates agents and wants people to book direct, now these flights have been cancelled all those people who have booked direct will have to find alternative flights at higher prices or risk losing their monies paid on accomodation, if they had booked through an agent with ATOL protection agents would be responsible.. another rason why people should book with an agent who has bonding and airlines that do not cancel flights and do not care... Comments from Mr O'Leary would be appreciated.
