A Holiday Extras poll has found 38% of British travellers said they would refuse to pay to check in their hold luggage.
Nearly half (49%) thought paying to check in their suitcase was a ridiculous idea and said they would pay unwillingly.
Holiday Extras' head of sales, David Stratton, said: "Most airlines now encourage travellers to opt for online check-in and many short-haul airlines have introduced fees for checking in hold baggage.”
A practical 9% of Holiday Extras customers said they'd be happy to avoid baggage check-in charges by carrying hand luggage only, while 4% said they would not pay more than £40 to check in their suitcase.
The survey of 553 customers also highlighted that airlines losing luggage is a major worry for three quarters of Holiday Extras customers, yet 68% have never suffered lost luggage.
Only 26% take out insurance, while 27% take key items in their hand luggage and 22% split essential packing with their partner.
A quarter of Holiday Extras customers don't give their luggage a second thought.
