Japan to bring forward end of final Covid restrictions
Final Japan Covid restrictions are expected to be scrapped this coming weekend.
The Japanese government plans to end its remaining border restrictions a week earlier than previously announced.
It had originally penciled in May 8 to end all restrictions.
It will likely also downgrade the classification of Covid-19 to the same as seasonal flu.
Currently, travelers arriving in Japan must show proof that they are fully vaccinated.
The practice of limited random testing on arrival is also expected to end at the weekend, local media report
The end of Japan Covid restrictions is in time for the busy Golden Week spring holidays which start this weekend through May 7.
