Power outage delays Manchester Airport flights
Passengers flying out of Manchester Airport are being warned of disruption to flights after a short power outage.
Power went off in Terminal 3 at 8am but has since been restored, Manchester Airport tweeted.
Work is underway to return services to normal but delays are possible through the morning.
Passengers should check the current flight status with their airline.
“Power has been restored and we are working to minimise disruption to passengers.”
Some flights were delayed.
The airport said it is still investigating the cause of the outage.
Some passengers posted online they had missed flights due to being unable to check in luggage for departures scheduled just after the power cut began.
Several confirmed ‘long tailbacks’ at check-in.

Who would want to use this awful airport when there is a viable alternative at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, easy process from car park to gate in around 10 mins. Worldwide connections with Lufthansa via Frankfurt and Aer Lingus via Dublin and now IT Packages with Jet 2.

This is a usual occurrence at Manchester Airport and not because of a power outage. I never recommend my clients to fly out of that airport. The number of stories I have heard from past clients of overcrowding, lack of check in staff and security staff make it a nightmare of an airport to use. Luckily there is an alternative, I recommend all of my clients to try and fly out of Liverpool John Lennon Airport which has been in the past almost impossible to do as there have been no gateways to use. Thank goodness for Lufthansa via FRA and recently Aer Lingus via DUB to be able to book long haul. The IT market has been sadly missing until Jet 2's announcement that they are going to make LPL their 11th Base. At last now LPL will have what it deserves for the size of the city it represents and the people of Liverpool and beyond will not have to use Manchester. The icing on the cake would be a connection to the Capital City, it's ludicrous that Liverpool is the only major European City not connected to it's capital. The hosting of Eurovision has put Liverpool in the spotlight of the world, over 180 million viewers. So come on Loganair you connect IOM and DND to LHR so how about LPL, even just to test the water and double stop the IOM to LHR via LPL and see how much this connection is needed. The train service from Liverpool to Euston with Avanti West Coast is a joke and at the moment it's the only way visitors can get to Liverpool.
