Snow place like New York State!
The Empire State has plenty to offer travellers when winter arrives, with activities including downhill, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and tubing. In fact, New York State has 50 ski areas, which is more than any other state in the country! The most renowned mountains, like Whiteface and Hunter, give opportunities to ski or snowboard on the high peaks, scenic trails and fresh powder.
Lake Placid is a place that offers history alongside adventure, with the chance to learn about the Winter Olympics being held here in 1932 and 1980, and then bobsled down that very same track!
With so much already in place, there is also more to come with New York State announcing exciting prospects in 5 of the vacations regions. The Adirondack and Catskill mountain ranges both have resorts adding new trails, as well as extensive advances to the snowmaking, which will extend the ski seasons in both areas. There is also major progress at slopes in the Finger Lakes, the Hudson Valley and Chautauqua-Allegheny, meaning that the developments really are state-wide!
