Houston, Texas

 

Houston is a city of museums, but the star of the show is Space Center Houston, where displays include a Saturn V rocket and a Mars research capsule you can climb into. Catch a Houston Rockets basketball game or shop at The Galleria. As Texas' largest shopping center, and one of the largest in the USA, The Galleria features hundreds of shops and restaurants as well as play areas and an ice rink.

Austin, Texas

Austin earns its reputation as a live music capital with some 250 venues with a plethora of genres to choose from. Watch the taping of Austin City Limits, the USA's longest-running televised music series. In spring there's the South by Southwest Music Festival and many others throughout the year. Austin also has a vibrant food scene and is famous for its Tex-Mex served from the city's popular food trucks or trailers.

Texas Hill Country

Take a Hill Country drive – Scenic Highway 16 makes a pretty route to see the spectacular scenery of bluebonnets against limestone outcrops. Stop to cool off in a natural spring or try the half-mile hike to Enchanted Rock. In towns such as Fredericksburg, explore the local heritage and cooking - Hill Country takes further pride in its barbecue tradition. Mesquite coals lend signature flavour to meats, including tender brisket.

San Antonio, Texas

Tour San Antonio's 18th century Spanish Catholic missions, recently named a World Heritage Site. Nearby, the River Walk is a paved path alongside the city's namesake river. Round-off your journey through Texas with a visit to some of San Antonio's attractions, including its water parks and its amazing theme parks like SeaWorld® San Antonio and Six Flags® Fiesta Texas.
