This leisurely itinerary offers the chance to see several great American cities without lengthy driving distances. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the birthplace of the USA, is infused with art, culture, history and entertainment. Just a short drive away, New Jersey and Delaware offer diverse attractions, including exciting casinos, tranquil beaches and historical landmarks.

New York City, New York State

 

Exciting things to do are easy to find in New York City. Broadway offers great shows (check online for advice on tickets). Stretch your mind at enriching museums both large and small. Enjoy panoramic views from the Empire State Building or One World Observatory. Otherwise, watch the Yankees, see the Statue of Liberty from the (free) Staten Island Ferry and enjoy diverse foods in one of the many boroughs.

Jersey Shore, New Jersey

Head south from New York City to the Jersey Shore, which is lined with charming beach towns, lively boardwalks, lighthouses, amusement parks and sandy beaches. Try your luck at Atlantic City casinos, ride a Ferris wheel in Wildwood and stay in a Victorian inn in quaint Cape May.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

You could happily spend a week eating and drinking your way through vibrant Philadelphia's abundant restaurants, food markets and craft breweries, for example the Reading Terminal Market is the USA's oldest farmers' market. In addition to the Liberty Bell and Constitution Center, Philadelphia is home to an array of museums, galleries and attractions. See masterpieces at The Barnes Foundation, or enjoy nature at Longwood Gardens or Fairmount Park.

Lancaster, Pennsylvania
