Sports in the Sunshine State

Head to Florida for some sizzling sporting action this summer. Whether you're into rackets, bats, paddles, pedals - or you prefer to sit and spectate - there's something for everyone.

Bradenton Area CVB
Tennis greats Andre Agassi and Maria Sharapova have both trained at Bradenton's IMG Academy but you don't have to be a professional to enjoy a fun day out at this world-class, state of the art sports complex. Last year the Academy opened the on-site Legacy Hotel, so you can stay overnight too.

Visit Sarasota County
Hire a kayak, a stand-up paddle board or a pontoon pedal boat at Nathan Benderson Park, where the World Rowing Championships took place in 2017. If you'd rather stay on dry land, take a walk or cycle around the peaceful 2,000 metre lake or join a yoga session.

Daytona Beach
Watch in wonder as drivers battle it out under the lights for a coveted victory at one of NASCAR's most anticipated events at the Daytona International Speedway. The Coke Zero Sugar 400 takes place on 6 July and promises some of the most exciting racing of the season, kicking off with a concert by country music singer Michael Ray and ending with one of largest fireworks displays in the Southeastern US.

Visit St. Pete/ Clearwater
Grab a traditional American hotdog and some St. Pete craft beer and cheer on the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field in downtown St. Pete, a baseball experience in a league of its own. Throughout July, the Rays are playing the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox and Chicago White Sox on home soil, so you're in for a treat.

New Smyrna Beach
Sports fans are spoilt for choice at the 68-acre New Smyrna Beach Sports Complex, home to a municipal football stadium, baseball, softball and soccer fields and a lighted multi-purpose field. When it comes to ball games, it's hard to beat.

Madame Tussauds Orlando
Throw a punch against Muhammad Ali, have a selfie with Serena Williams and putt against Tiger Woods. These are just some of the wax global sporting legends you can meet when you spend the day at Madame Tussauds Orlando.

SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment
Unleash your competitive side at Aquatica Orlando with an eight-person water race in and out of tunnels, speeding down the staggeringly-steep descent to the finish line. Each rider's time is shown at the end so there's no disputing the winner!

The Florida Keys & Key West
Join local legend, Captain Bill Keogh of Big Pine Kayak Adventures, for an eco-kayaking tour, navigating the shallow waters around the mangrove islands of the Great White Heron National Wildlife Refuge and National Key Deer Refuge. Rent your own kayaks or go on a four-hour tour.

Hertz
With a wide range of vehicles to choose from and prices to suit all budgets, getting to watch your dream sports match in Florida, or even try your hand at it yourself, is easy when you book car hire with Hertz.
