Start your tour in Seattle, before winding your way down the Pacific Coast, taking in an array of American musical history and culture, as well as some great culinary experiences and spectacular views along the way. Finish under the bright lights of Las Vegas and all the fun that the city holds!

Over the years, Seattle has produced artists like Jimi Hendrix, Macklemore and Nirvana. Make sure to visit the Museum of Pop Culture, known as MoPop, to see exhibits dedicated to popular culture, particularly music, and catch some live music at plenty of legendary venues. Try to visit during one of Seattle's many festivals, and ensure to browse its vinyl albums collection. While there, explore Olympic National Park, an outdoor enthusiast's paradise, spanning many different ecosystems from the glaciated peaks of the Olympic Mountains, to ancient rainforests and the shores of Lake Crescent and the Pacific Ocean.

Seattle, Washington to Coos Bay, Oregon,
via Portland, Oregon

Return to the music scene in Portland, known as "America's Indie Rock Mecca," home to dozens of record stores; The Dandy Warhols; music events and festivals; numerous microbreweries; and a delicious downtown food truck scene. Continue on the culinary theme as you head to Oregon Wine Country in the Willamette Valley, where you'll encounter over 550 wineries; stop at the Red Hills Market in Dundee to enjoy locally sourced food. Follow the Oregon Coastal Highway to Coos Bay, home to the Oregon Coast Music Festival; wonderful local seafood; and beautiful beaches.

Coos Bay, Oregon to San Francisco, California

Arrive in San Francisco and bask in the history of this city, which was the heart of the 1960s hippie subculture. Walk to Buena Vista Park to gaze down at the colourful Victorian homes. Over the years, San Francisco hosted the Beatles and Led Zeppelin's final shows and is also the city where bands like Green Day and Journey got their start. Don't forget to check out its many must-visit music venues for varying genres.

San Francisco, California to Los Angeles, California,
via Monterey, California

Relax on a drive south on Highway One along the California coast through Monterey, host to the Monterey Jazz Festival in September, one of the world's longest-running Jazz festivals. Stop in Santa Barbara for lunch (home to luxury hotels, restaurants and in the heart of wine country), before arriving in Los Angeles, the business hub of the music industry. The City of Angels is a must-stop destination for any music enthusiast, playing host to many stars and also the location of iconic venues like the Greek Theatre and Chateau Marmont. Maybe you'll spot a celebrity!

Los Angeles, California to Palm Springs, California

Leave the Pacific Coast for the two-hour drive to Palm Springs, where the stars go to relax. Don't forget Coachella, the world-famous festival, spanning two weekends in April and featuring all genres of music. Past performers include Coldplay and Calvin Harris. Stagecoach, also in April, has featured stars like Shania Twain or Willie Nelson. Visiting out of festival season? Palm Springs still has great live music venues!

Drive north for four hours to Las Vegas, known as the "Entertainment Capital of the World." Legends who have performed and/or had residencies in Las Vegas include Elvis Presley, Sonny and Cher, Dolly Parton, The Rat Park, Barbra Streisand and Liberace. Touring artists visit various arenas, making this a music stop not to be missed!
