Aeroflot banned from UK
Russian carrier Aeroflot has been banned from flying to the UK after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
It is part of a series of sanctions imposed which includes the freezing of assets.
The UK Civil Aviation Authority said: “Following the announcement by the Prime Minister in Parliament, the Civil Aviation Authority has suspended the foreign carrier permit held by Aeroflot until further notice.”
“This means that Aeroflot will not be permitted to operate flights to or from the United Kingdom.”
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps later confirmed all Russian scheduled carriers are banned.
More than 200 flights have been cancelled to and from Ukraine in the last week before its airspace was closed.
It includes 44 flights from the UK.
