Agency becomes first to offer payment by instalment
Customers of United Co-op Travel will be able to pay for their holidays in instalments under a ground-breaking move by the agency.
It is thought that United is the first high street travel retailer to offer the PayPoint service.
Available from August, it will enable customers to make regular cash payments during their weekly shop. Agents will provide them with a bar-coded payment card which can be used to make payments at Co-op Late Shops or any of the 14,600 shops in the UK displaying the PayPoint sign.
Payments can range from £10 to £99.
United Co-op Travel general manager retail distribution Alistair Rowland said: “This is an excellent service for people on a budget for whom large balloon payments can cause difficulties. We’re expecting strong take-up from younger customers and those with families who want to budget for a holiday on a weekly or monthly basis.”
The deal with PayPoint will be exclusive to United for six months.
