Air India Express to induct 50 new Boeing 737 Max planes

As Air India’s low cost unit officially rebrands this week, it says it will induct 50 new Boeing 737 Max planes by the end of next year.
Air India Express and AirAsia India currently have a combined fleet of 56 planes.
The airlines formally become one this week as Air India Express.
CEO Aloke Singh said migration to a common reservations and check-in system is complete.
“Over the next 15 months, a total of 50 new Max aircraft will join the LCC fleet, allowing us to grow our network to new destinations,” Singh said.
The two airlines currently operate about 2,700 flights per week.
“Key milestones have been achieved including a common website and agent portal, aligned product and service offerings,” Singh told staff in a memo.
As well as the LCC integration, full-service carriers Air India and Vistara are also merging.
