Air India, IndiGo halt Bangladesh flights

Air India and IndiGo both cancelled flights to Bangladesh capital Dhaka due to the political upheaval in the country.
Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and has reportedly fled the country.
Indian carrier Vistara operated a flight from Mumbai on Monday but is now monitoring the situation closely before confirming if it will operate on Tuesday.
Air India operates two Dhaka flights from Delhi while sister brand Vistara flies daily from Mumbai and three times a week from Delhi.
IndiGo has Dhaka flights from four cities – Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Kolkata.
“In view of the emerging situation, we have cancelled the scheduled operation of our flights to and from Dhaka with immediate effect. We are continuously monitoring the situation,” an Air India spokesperson said.
IndiGo said Dhaka flights are cancelled for Tuesday at least while it assesses the situation.
“We understand that this may cause significant inconvenience and we sincerely regret this development,” it posted on X.
