Air race to boost WA tourism
A spectacular air race will be held in Perth this year after the event received approval from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.
The race will see some of the world’s best pilots visit Perth, undertaking precision manoeuvres at speeds of up to 400 kilometres an hour.
The event is expected to draw more than 4,000 visitors to the city and will be broadcast internationally to hundreds of thousands of viewers.
The Minister for Tourism, Sheila McHale, says the race will be a chance to promote the state.
“It’s an incredible opportunity to attract tourists and to broadcast and promote Western Australia,” she said.
“In economic terms it means for an investment of about $2.8 million, the state is expected to generate about $10 million in value.”
