Airbnb testing earlier payouts for hosts
Home sharing giant Airbnb is currently testing a new feature which aims to speed up payments to hosts.
A payout splitting feature is being tested with interested hosts which gives them 50% of the booking price three days after a guest confirms the booking.
The remaining 50% will be released 24 hours after check-in time.
Airbnb will take an extra 1% of the booking value for early payout.
Hosts are able to opt out of early payouts at any time.
For bookings canceled after an early payout has been forwarded, the value will be deducted from the host’s next booking.
"We’re always testing new ways to meet the needs of our hosts, many of whom have asked for earlier access to their Airbnb payouts in order to invest back in hosting," a company spokesperson told Engadget.
The option is still being tested with invited hosts and a full roll out will presumably be dependent on host feedback.
