Airports stealing Christmas?
In Minnesota, the Minneapolis/St. Paul International is reconsidering its former rejection of a request from local imams to set aside a praying area for Muslims.
And in Washington, all nine Christmas trees have been removed from the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport instead of adding a giant Jewish menorah to the holiday display as a rabbi had requested.
“We decided to take the trees down because we didn’t want to be exclusive,” said Seattle airport spokeswoman Terri-Ann Betancourt. “We’re trying to be thoughtful and respectful, and will review policies after the first of the year.”
“We would not provide a separate room for a particular faith,” said a spokesman for the Minnesota airport, adding that the airport already has two all-faith areas for prayer and meditation on the mezzanine level of the Lindbergh Terminal.
